City Hall Tower

Experience farm from above

If you want to discover Hof from a lofty height, you should not miss a visit to the town hall tower. Built in 1566 in the course of the construction of the new town hall by Nikolaus Hofmann from Halle in the Renaissance style, it still dominates the cityscape together with the Michaeliskirche church directly opposite. Its octagonal basic shape, the striking onion dome and above all its height of 30 meters make it a landmark visible from afar.

New perspectives

Those who climb the 152 steps of the town hall tower will be rewarded with a fantastic panoramic view. From the viewing platform running around the tower, you can let your eyes wander over the city and the surrounding area of Hof from a height of 28 meters. From here you can also experience many sights of our city from a completely different perspective. Whether it's the elegantly curved Ludwigstrasse, St. Mary's Church in the old town, the theater and the Freiheitshalle (Freedom Hall) or the Theresienstein - a completely new view opens up to you from the Town Hall Tower. The Town Hall Tower is accessible from March to October during the opening hours of the neighboring Tourist Info. There you can also get the key to the tower. By the way, the visit is free of charge.

Our tip

Visit the town hall tower at noon. Stroke 12 you can hear not only the bell of the town hall tower, but also the ringing of St. Michael's Church.
